Leanne Covey RDN, RODP, Cert Ed

My name is Leanne Covey and Wessex Dental Training has been established for about five years. I had worked as a dental nurse for several years before getting into education. I qualified in May 1994 and have been on the GDC register since it officially opened. I have an Honours degree in Education & Training and I mentor trainee teachers who are currently at college or University to gain their Certificate in Education. I like the idea of providing a course with high standards that on successful completion results in top class dental nurses.

Wessex Dental Training – exists to provide all round education for its students which begins from the very first interview and application notes with the student, and embraces concern for their welfare, past learning experiences and learning styles. The National Certificate is a highly respected method of gaining your dental nursing qualification and I have no doubt that the Diploma can only raise the bar to ensure that Dental Nurses get the respect they deserve.

Wessex Dental Training aims to get a 100% pass rate for the National Diploma examination, ultimately resulting in multi-skilled professional Dental Nurses fit for practice and GDC Registration. It has evolved over the last 6 years and has used student feedback to improve the quality and usability of the course. It continues to evolve and following completion of the course, students are encouraged to complete an overall feedback survey to enable good points to be recognised and improvements made.

With the national average pass rate for November 2011 being 65.67%, Wessex Dental Nurse Training achieved an 72% pass rate, lower than previous years but still above the National average.  Well done ladies!
